Meet the Team, and why not join us as a volunteer?

We have a dedicated team of experts to help our clients, but we are always looking for help with the day -to-day running of One Stop Advice Centre. 

 

If you are a female with a second language, why not become a volunteer to support us? You don't need qualifications, we will train so you are confident and able to take initial instructions from clients and are able to provide clients with generalist advice, refer to a specialist internally, provide information or signpost to other service providers. Every little help makes a difference to our disadvantaged and vulnerable clients.

 

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community and get experience before you enter the workplace. Volunteers will at all times be supported by a specialist advisor. We would like commitment and expect our volunteers to have the following skills, be reliable, patient, non-judgemental, confident, and be open to learning, and show commitment to self-development.

Azra Jan (she/her)

Founder, Manager and Immigration Advisor

As the Manager and Immigration Advisor at the One Stop Advice and Training Centre, my role encompasses strategic leadership and specialised client support. I oversee the organisation's operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality advice and services while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and secure funding opportunities As an Immigration Advisor, I provide expert guidance on immigration matters, including visa applications, settlement, and citizenship, helping clients navigate complex legal processes. I also develop and implement policies, manage teams, and foster partnerships to enhance service delivery. My role is centered on empowering individuals and communities by providing tailored solutions and creating pathways for growth and stability.

Rashida Begum (she/her)

Solicitor and Development Manager

As a Development Manager and Solicitor at the One Stop Advice and Training Centre, my role involves leading organisational growth while delivering expert legal services. I oversee the development and implementation of strategies to expand the centre's reach and improve service delivery, as a Solicitor, I provide legal advice and representation to clients in areas such as immigration, housing, welfare, and other civil matters, ensuring their rights are protected and advocating for positive outcomes. My role combines strategic planning, team management, and legal expertise to drive the centre's mission of empowering individuals and supporting vulnerable communities.

Mentor/Employment Advisor

As a mentor at the One Stop Advice and Training Centre, my role involves providing guidance, support, and encouragement to individuals especially the youth on seeking to improve their personal and professional development. I assist mentees in identifying their goals, overcoming challenges, and building confidence to achieve their aspirations. This includes offering practical advice, sharing knowledge, and helping them navigate areas such as education and employment. By fostering a supportive and empowering environment, I help mentees develop the skills and resilience needed to make informed decisions and create positive, lasting changes in their lives.

Maleeha Kiani (her/she)

Social Welfare Advisor

As a Social Welfare Advisor specialising in welfare benefits, debt, and housing advice providing expert guidance and support to individuals and families facing financial or housing challenges. I assess client's circumstances, identify entitlements to welfare benefits, and assist with claims or appeals. I offer tailored advice on managing debt, negotiating with creditors, and developing sustainable financial plans. Additionally, I provide support with housing-related issues, including navigating tenancy agreements, addressing homelessness risks, and accessing housing benefits. As an advisor i have strong communication and problem-solving skills and am very compassionate to empower and improve clients quality of life.

Admin Advisor

As a dedicated advice professional, my responsibilities encompass a range of administrative tasks designed to support our clients and the office. I expertly handle client inquiries, ensuring that every visitor feels welcome and valued. Beyond that, I am entrusted with organising and managing files, which is essential for maintaining an efficient workflow. Data entry is another significant element of my role, allowing me to keep our records accurate and up-to-date. My overall goal is to facilitate a positive experience for our clients while supporting the team with professionalism and efficiency.
